Instead of using a tube black, try mixing a black. Here are four different combinations of just two colors each, that resulted in four much more interesting "blacks", using Daniel Smith watercolor pigments:
- Undersea Green + Perylene Maroon
- Indanthrone Blue + Quinacridone Burnt Orange
- Undersea Green + Carbizole Violet
- Carbizole Violet + Quinacridone Burnt Orange
